The Journey Continues....

I am sitting in Starbucks, staying away from Alaina as to not give her the opportunity to vent to me that she doesn't feel good and wants to go home instead of race. We are in Chino Hills, cow country, and this is the last "fun" race of the season.  In two weeks, it is "place top 20 or go home". For the past five years she has cruised from sectionals to regionals to qualify for the National Junior Cross Country Championships. This year could be different as her more mature brain is fighting her natural talent and is giving her more anxiety than an almost 13 year old athlete should have to deal with.

I am determined to start this blog and continue to share the journey.  While I have titled it "Perspective: Through the Eyes of a Grieving Mother", you will also get perspective through the eyes of wife; mother of four; fitness professional; nutritionist (BS in Dietetics); infertility survivor; a women who lost her 46 year old sister, who was also her second mother and best friend, to breast cancer in 1993; who has a serious type A personality; who abhors addictions and loves football; but who refuses to believe she or anyone else is better than another due to their religious, sexual, or political beliefs;  financial situation; or the race and ethnicity they were born into.

Speaking of football, off to Charger game today after race to see if my boys can pull it together.
